Conference interpreting is an umbrella term for a number of different interpreting techniques. Here are the types of interpreting available to you.
Simultaneous Interpreting
Interpreting booths and headphones are used to interpret the spoken word simultaneously, i.e. without delay. Interpreters work in a team and alternate approximately every 30 minutes.
Interpreting using a portable microphone
A so-called “tour guide” system is used in this technique. The interpreters stand near to the speaker and whisper the interpretation into a microphone. The audience follow this over mobile headphones.
Consecutive interpreting
The interpreter makes notes during the speech and renders the appropriate passage into the other language every 5 or 10 minutes.
Business interpreting
Short oral contributions by 2 or more partners are interpreted successively in both language directions.
If you are not sure which interpreting technique is the most suitable for your event – no problem, I will be happy to advise you.
